I have been experiencing something beyond myself  - Christ taking over my life in a deep, practical way.  This is my Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in my eyes!  I've always heard that serving the "least" is where Christ is, and it's true!  Serving and pouring out for them has brought me such joy.  Not a joy that is the outcome of a perfect situation, but a joy that is discovered by forgetting all about self and serving others.  Working with these kiddos is exhausting, demanding, trying, and often just plain frustrating.  Often we question if we're even making an impact.  But He is here, strengthening, upholding, and sustaining me in ways I only ever dreamed of.

We've been blessed to see several children saved, and it's so exciting!  There is so much need here - sometimes it's hard for me to believe I'm still in America.

Yesterday as I was telling one of my little kindergarten girls goodbye, she burst into tears and said, "Miss Ashley, I'm going to miss you so much!"  It about broke my heart.  :)  I wish I could have more time with the kids - teaching them about Christ, doing fun activities, and just loving them.  It never ceases to amaze me how hungry they are for love and attention and care.

Tomorrow we get to see the Statue of Liberty, hopefully Ground Zero, a play on Broadway, and whatever else we find to do in the city.  :)  I'm looking forward to it!

To all of you who have left me a comment - thank you.  It means more than I can say and is SUCH an encouragement!

Amazed at what He is doing,
Ashley

  1. Oh Ashley, I am so happy to hear that several children came to know Christ as their Savior! I had an experience recently where I realized what you meant about loving the "least." I'll email you about it later. =) Enjoy your day in New York! Praying for your safe travel back home.
